Support Mrs. Cribb's classroom with a gift that fosters learning.
I believe that something very magical can happen when one reads a good book. As a first grade teacher, our classroom library is a very important and integral part of our learning. These books will not only continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I aim to create, but allow my students to build a joy of reading.
I want my classroom library to be a place that my students love to visit. Books allow a student to build vocabulary, use his or her imagination and allow for so many lesson extension opportunities such as writing stories, completing story mapping, discussing and learning about a story book character's feelings and relating it to our own feelings. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. These books will offer a variety of topics and will allow my students the opportunity to select a book that not only interests him or her, but allows for independent reading at his or her own grade level.
The best way to increase reading ability and fluency is to read more. This classroom library will provide the opportunity for my students to grow stronger in reading both independently, during whole group reading, and teacher read a -louds. My classroom library will only help to enrich my student's learning and joy of reading.
