Students will have the opportunity to take the book home to read and help with any classwork. The books will allow students to have textual content to read in person instead of online. The books will be used to fit standards such as summarizing, reading elements, and vocabulary. Bridge to Terabithia was specifically chosen because it is highly relatable at the 7th grade age level, and allows students to visit a time before technology became more prevalent in children’s lives.
I hope to use this book to help students see the impact of friendship and how important it is. I will have students create their own worlds like the main characters do in Bridge to Terabithia. They will present said worlds to the class for a grade. The students will describe, summarize, and highlight key factors that are similar to the book and what sets it apart.
