These items on my list will be used for the overall health and safety of my students in person (hand sanitizer and Kleenex), while the rest will be used to make individual music kits for each student. In the age of COVID-19, making music can be incredibly challenging.
I don't want to deprive students of an excellent music education due to COVID-19, so individual music kits will give them opportunities to make music without having to worry about the spread of germs. Each item on my list serves a purpose. Pool noodles will be cut in half and into smaller chunks to make "sand scraper" instruments, while the plastic eggs will be filled with rice to make handheld shakers. The wooden dowel rods will be rhythm sticks and help them learn how to keep a steady beat. Finally, the bingo chips will be used as movable note heads on an individual staff, which will also be a part of the kit.
