The ability for all students to create should not be a privilege. My students generally are provided with the supplies they will need at school through our school funding, however with protocols enforced due to covid19 this year, all supplies touched by students are to be sanitized each period. With so much time devoted to cleaning we decided to create basic supplies each student can use for the year that won't require being sanitized 7 times a day. Our local budget has helped fund a portion of this project however we ran short on funds to complete it. With the majority of our students coming from lower income families we don't feel it is equitable to ask them to provide supplies be able to create art. Without having to worry about supplies, students will be able to focus on creating amazing artwork wether they're learning remotely or on campus without the added fear of materials not being sanitized properly.
