The use of individualized STEAM boxes will bring additional learning opportunities to all of my students. Each box will be filled with hands-on challenges/problems for students to solve. These boxes can be used in the classroom or can be sent home with (or sent to) students. All necessary materials for each challenge are contained within each box. Students will use real-world critical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with their knowledge of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) skills to solve the challenges put forth in each box. The challenges in each box pose students with some sort of problem or challenge that they must solve using the materials available within the box. Students are asked to assess, question, plan, design, build, and reflect upon their challenge and solutions. This can be done in a variety of forms, verbal, pictorial, or written.
