In my speech-language room, my students and I read books weekly. They loving being able to go into my speech library and pick books that they might not have a chance to read outside of our time together. While reading, we work on producing specific speech sounds, describing pictures, answering "wh" questions, expanding sentences, requesting, labeling, and many more different skills. The area I teach does not have much diversity.
With these books, my students will be able to learn about diversity, while still working on speech-language skills. These books will give my students opportunities to learn and grow their brains. In these uncertain times, books are a way I can continue to teach my kiddos, even if we are far apart.
