I love for my students to feel like the classroom is their home away from home. Just like how we furnish our homes to feel more comfortable in them, a classroom should be perceived in the same way because students spend the majority of their time at school and deserve to always be in a good environment. I want my classroom to have a specific upbeat and vibrant vibe that enhances my students' mood to learn. My project is to offer my students a selection of books for our classroom library to increase their motivation to read and learn. My students were heavily impacted by the pandemic academically, and it is important for teachers to pick up the slack. In first grade, many students begin learning how to read, so book donations would be greatly needed. Having an array of options to read, helps increase the intrinsic motivation to want to read knowing that there is a book specifically for them. I also included accessories for my guided reading table to aid in interactive, guided reading lessons like colored expo markers and erasable circle sticks for them to write on. I know I have numerous requests, but this donation would be greatly appreciated by my students who are eager to read.
