The students will learn to measure with their rulers, create circles with their compass, learn the Golden Ratio, the rule of thirds, cut out recycled paper, and create a puzzle like art composition.
This activity will get children focused on shapes and proportions, while learning how to recycle all those magazines, newspapers, and junk mail.
Taking old magazines and newspaper and rolling them up to create a vase or coaster is recycling as well as relaxing. Also, while creating their piece, they will understand why an artist uses the Golden Ratio and or the rule of thirds.
