The use of novels is the foundation for my Reading classes. In this age of everything being digital, I believe it is important for students to have the experience of holding a book in their hand. Without the text students struggle to interact with the story in a meaningful way. Nothing is worse for a teacher than not having enough copies of a novel for every student. As a teacher, it is horrible to feel as if I'm putting any of my kids at a disadvantage while reading because I don't have enough novels for each student to have his/her own copy. I want each of my students to know they are important and special enough to have a copy of their very own while we are learning.
