After an unexpected transition last year to learning from home, our students are returning to the classroom this year. A young adult novel like Unwind will be relatable and engaging to our teen readers, and therefore, will help them in a successful return to classroom learning. This novel has several relatable teen protagonists of differing genders, nationalities, and races. Because of the variety of teen perspectives represented positively in this novel, students will have a chance to relate to the character they most identify with while also expanding their worldviews through understanding the perspectives of others.
By donating to this project, you will help students make a positive transition back into classroom learning by giving them a novel they'll find relatable and engaging. The complexity of content and ethical issues raised in this text will engage students in discussions; this will extend their learning and build new skills utilized on their way to becoming independent thinkers and informed citizens. It starts with welcoming our high school students back into classroom learning with a book they are excited to keep reading.
