While there are many uncertainties and questions about the upcoming school year, one thing that I do know is that I will be able to continue reading books to my class, whether in person or virtually. I also know that it is extremely important for all students to see a wide representation in stories. With the current climate of the world and our country, one thing I am dedicated to as an anti-racist educator is to expand my classroom library for my current students and ones to come. I want to begin conversations about diversity and racism early and provide for the children in my class to see characters like them in books. I get many of my books at Goodwill due to the expenses that can rack up quickly when expanding a classroom library. With limited funding for my classroom, my books come from 100% out of my pocket. Please share and thank you for supporting early education and the future generation!
Any books I receive I plan on creating lesson plans to accompany and organizing them to share with the other teachers in my building.
