We have been trying to purchase enough iPads so that each student has one to take home every day. We have signed videos of over 400 books (with the publishers' permission) in every reading level. These leveled books are loaded into iBooks on their iPads so that they can read (along with an interpreter signing the book) at home. We also create our own books in their classroom lessons so that they can review their daily lessons.
This extra support at home has made a huge difference! Our students try their best at school, but, due to their disability, they don't always get all the information. When they go home and review the videoed signed lesson which has been loaded into their iBooks, it begins to make sense. Being successful at school has made a tremendous difference in their self-confidence and their ability to be successful at school.
