Next year my students will no longer have a music teacher, and I would love to instruct them how to play the ukulele. This would involve the students learning to read music, learning to play together as a group, and it would culminate in giving a concert to families to build community.
In the event that we remain in distance learning, the ukuleles would be delivered to homes so that students could be instructed via distance learning.
Our students come from a neighborhood with high poverty and many don't have access to instruments at home. Without an active music program at school this would be their only opportunity to learn an instrument.
