Teaching visual arts during distance learning has been very challenging... especially in terms of art supplies. While a lot of my students have the basic essentials such as crayons, colored pencils, and markers, a large majority of my students do not have the means to purchase other, what most art teachers would consider vital, art supplies such as oil pastels and watercolor paints. Oil pastels and watercolor paints are easy to use but can create very expressive and dynamic works of art, for every grade level. It is my goal in the near future to incorporate more social-emotional learning based art projects so that students can cope and expressive themselves during this unprecedented time.
