My second graders will be learning remotely when school resumes. While this is not the ideal learning environment I wish for them, I am committed to making distance learning a rigorous, engaging, and fun experience for each of my students.
The tools I am requesting will make my delivery of instruction clear and my lessons come to life.
The lesson plan book will be essential in preparing for instruction. I will be managing both synchronous and asynchronous online instruction. Additionally, I will be having small group instruction for both math, guided reading instruction, and English Learners. This takes a lot of preparation and the book will help me keep it all organized for my students. I have also requested some technology, such as a mouse and mouse pad. I currently use a Chromebook with a touchpad but it is not as easy to navigate the cursor. When delivering online instruction while watching 24 students on a Zoom screen, every second counts. The mouse will allow me to navigate between platforms and teaching apps with ease so that my students can have my undivided attention and instructional minutes are not lost. Additionally, the headset will allow me to clearly hear my students, while the microphone will allow my students to hear my instructions with reduced background noise. Similarly, I can use the flexibility of the web camera to capture video of my instruction without the constraint of being seated behind my device. I will be able to use the whiteboard to model and the presentation board to display anchor papers and samples.
