These materials will be available in school for students to use while learning early reading skills. Often, the students I work with have lots of energy and when they come to my room for extra reading help, they have been sitting for long periods of time so I like to incorporate ways for them to be active while learning. The various letters requested can be used for the earliest student who is just learning the letter sounds and names. However, they can also be used for older students who are learning to put sounds together to read words or match sounds to letters. Sequencing is an important skill that helps the brain form a framework for literacy skills. The picture cards are used to build vocabulary for English learners and for those with a limited vocabulary, these are also a great way to spark conversations. Oral Language is a necessary part of reading instruction. With these materials, the possibilities are endless!!
