The books that I have chosen to begin building my diverse and inclusive library will help my students develop their love of learning and of reading. I will use the books in our virtual classroom now, and in our in-person classroom whenever we get to transition back to in-person learning. The books will be used to target key skills like book knowledge, foundational skills in reading, reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary.
We will use these books for class-wide read alouds and for reading workshops that target key skills with smaller groups of students. These books were selected for my class because they will introduce my students to different cultures and traditions, encourage them to develop a growth-mindset, and immerse them in new worlds. There is nothing more important to a classroom than a strong library filled with fun, exciting, and informative books that can help students develop their love and passion for learning!
