Creating a love of reading for my students is my ultimate goal. In a technology and screen dominate world, the love and value of printed text is getting lost. There is extreme value in a child hold and handling a paper copy of a text. There are developmental skills that can only be taught and assessed while observing a child hold a paper text. As a reading intervention teacher, I teach students who reading does not come easily for them. Having books at their reading level will give them the confidence and choice in what they read. Giving kids a variety of choice allows them to pick a topic of interest to them, thus being more engaged in the reading task at hand.
It is my job and goal to give them the tools they need to become life long readers and learners. I hope that by giving students choice books at their independent reading level will aid them in their journey to be come a life long reader.
