As the OT at a Title I school I have a caseload of 60 students who have various exceptionalities that make learning harder for them. I am also the mom of a 17 year old with Down syndrome. My kids have ADHD, anxiety, anger issues, and sensory processing difficulties on top of language and learning difficulties. Over the past 26 years I have seen time and time again the benefit of whole body learning, movement and sensory breaks to help with focus and different learning styles. Sensory paths also work on bilateral coordination, spatial skills, following directions, and visual scanning and attention. All of these are the building blocks for higher level learning. My school is an amazing place for all children to learn where my teachers recognize the need for this as well.
Thank you so much for your consideration in helping my students.
