These materials will help my students who are distance learning this year. Whiteboards and markers will allow students to quickly work out problems using various strategies, practice sentence writing easily, and participate in group activities. Headphones are a must-have when working on the computer, especially now that students are working from home, where their siblings, pets, and toys may distract them from their work. Headphones will allow them to plug-in and drown out any distractions. Finally, counters are crucial when building math skills at the beginning of the year. Many students are still struggling with counting, one-to-one correspondence, and basic addition and subtraction. These counters make math more engaging as well. These are items that we use daily in the classroom, and students will need them to continue their learning from home. With these tools, I know that my students can succeed and stay engaged, even through a screen!
