Calculators are expensive, and not all families can afford them. However, graphing calculators are an essential part of the math curriculum and there are problems that involve them on the SAT. I would love to provide this resource to my students so that I can teach them better. My first year teaching, I managed to dig up a few well-loved graphing calculators that no one else in the building was using, but I never have enough. At the beginning of each class, I ask students who still needs a calculator and almost every hand goes up. I cannot buy enough calculators for my classroom alone. Please partner with me and my students so they can be prepared for class and ready to learn.
