Music is a universal way to communicate to the world: what you feel, when you feel, and why you feel they way you feel. I want the students to have opportunity to unlock hidden talents they didn't know they have. Learning music theory as children will help them to understand rhythms and tempo in music, and strengthen their math skills as they learn what type of note is held for a certain amount of time. As they develop, they will learn to hold appropriately and strum these guitars to a tempo.
The students will learn the rhythms of life by using Latin drums, maracas, shakers, rhythm sticks to match the world around them, rather it be the heart beat visualized by the kick drum, or hand percussion to clap out simple/moderately complex rhythms. The students will be able to actively engage in learning to listen for music in the world around them. My students don't have many opportunities to express themselves creatively. I want to give them a way to love music, and learn to create as a whole group
