Since returning to in person learning, I am trying to get students to help one another as much as possible. They are encouraged to ask any student within a one desk radius for help, or to check answers. The materials in my project will help facilitate collaboration and discussion between peers. In addition to enhancing their math skills, they will be relearning and improving their social skills. The Apple TV will allow me to share the screen on my iPad with students on the projector, so information will be more easily seen and accessible to all students in the room. When I tell students they have 2 minutes to discuss their answers and thinking process with a neighbor, I can use the large kitchen timer to help students keep track of the time they have left.
Among other things, students will be able to make sense of (math) problems and persevere in solving them. They will able to model real-world problems with math and communicate answers that make sense in context.
