The plastic, pencil boxes will be used to create a literacy and a math "Tool Box" for each of my 30 students. These boxes will contain all the necessary "tools" that my students will need; for example, one tool in the math box will be counters for making sets and/or solving addition and subtraction problems. In the literacy box, there will be alphabet cards for building words. Usually these items would be readily available and shared within the classroom. Now that the classroom is at home, and sharing isn't possible, I want to create and distribute these boxes to all of my students to use in their classroom at home along with their peers and me online.
The journals will also be distributed with the "Tool Boxes" and "Book Bags" (complete with books for independent reading) to my students to use at home in their "classroom". My hope is that since we cannot be together in the classroom yet, we can connect while learning virtually through our same materials. We can all do the same thing at the same time, but from our own homes.
