If students are going to love reading, they need to be able to choose books that speak to them. Having a class library filled with quality books from diverse genres will empower student choice as they learn to find pleasure in exploring the world through stories that are different than their own.
These books will be located in my reading corner, where students can relax while reading independently and where I will read out loud to them. The goal for this corner is to allow students a place to leave everyday life behind as they embark on a reading adventure.
