This project will help open the minds of my students while teaching them skills that are needed their whole educations. Creative thinking, problem solving, and cooperation are skills that all students need to have in the classroom. These skills that are built in school then transfer out to the world. I will be using the building materials from this project to start teaching my students these skills starting in kindergarten.
Kindergarten is a time to teach students so many different skills and encourage their abilities. They are learning to be in school for possibly the first time. They are working on following a schedule and directions. It is also important to begin teaching them how to have a growth mindset, stamina, and the ability to work with others.
I will be using the materials in this project to create building boxes that students can use during centers and as a fast finisher. Students will be encouraged to create new things, work with others, and share their ideas. My hope is that through the use of these boxes all my students will become better at trying, failing, and trying again. They can create, take apart, and improve their creations with the many different types of building toys that I will have for them. Thus promoting skills that will help them their whole lives.
