Many of the activities that I am able to offer through the distance learning model, are not developmentally appropriate for my students, due to both their age and special needs. My students need more than learning games that can be played online, paper and pencil work sent home in weekly packets, and virtual class meetings. They need hands on and engaging activities to supplement their learning. They need to practice writing their sight words in shaving cream and paint, make letters using playdough, and practice their fine motor skills using materials like the dry erase board and magnadoodle.
