This year there is a lot of uncertainty about what teaching and learning will look like. One thing I do know is that my students need to read, and they need to read a lot!
My job as an educator is to help remove the barriers for my students. One of the barriers for my students is finding books that students cannot put down! Did you know that student reading achievement is directly linked to the amount of independent reading time they spend outside of the classroom? In order to get children interested in reading at home I need to have engaging books that are easy to get into. And I need a lot of them!
By providing children engaging books to read, together we can foster in them a love of reading and bring higher reading achievement. Not only that, but it will also change students' lives by encouraging them to be more empathetic, happy, and successful! For this project, I chose graphic novels I know my students will love, and book series that children will get lost in and beg for the next book!
