I am lucky enough to teach art to 900 students ranging in age from 3 to 11. My student artists love to use authentic materials like paint. COVID protocols have limited my students to the use of their own materials which are mostly crayons. I have made every effort to set up a rotating system of my paints and paint brushes that allow for students to use them and then I sanitize them in between classes; but it is an extensive process and doesn't allow for every class to use the materials daily. This Donors Choose project will increase my supply of paints and brushes so that every student can use paint safely and allow for equitable use of paints for all classes.
According to the University of Florida arts are an aspect of a well-rounded K-12 education. Exposure to visual arts increases a student's level of civic engagement, social tolerance, and helps close academic achievement gaps. By funding this project you will directly impact my students ability to do that.
I appreciate you taking the time to consider my students and this project.
With love,
Mrs. Soli.
