The materials I've chosen will be used to enrich learning in the classroom and continue learning at home. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, my students have experienced many transitions and changes to their learning.
While my students have shown immense resilience through these transitions, I feel they could benefit from additional resources to help them with their own emotional awareness. The yoga mats on my list will be used for a daily "mindfulness moment" during class. Students will share their mats with another partner and will practice breathing techniques and affirmations using the Yoga Pretzels cards. My hope is that students will learn to create these moments for themselves outside of the classroom as well.
The games on my list will be used for weekly classroom prizes so that students have consistent, regular rewards for their hard work in class. The prizes are small, but I'm confident that the recognition can help them feel that their contributions matter.
