One of the biggest areas of focus for math teachers is financial literacy and responsibility. In order to teach this effectively and implement real world application in my classroom, my students have chosen jobs in which they contribute to tasks in the classroom and earn a paycheck. They are then able to purchase items in a class auction with their money.
Many of my students have a great passion for art, but come from economically challenged homes with little money for school supplies, let alone the art supplies needed for them to pursue their passion. With your help, this project will allow students to "purchase" art supplies that would otherwise be unavailable to them, and also do it in a way that rewards them for their achievements at school.
I have solicited input from my students on which art supplies they would like and they are very excited to have this opportunity. The supplies purchased with this project will go directly to the students enabling them to pursue their passion for creativity.
