During these times of Covid19, teachers are facing challenges we have never thought would be a part of classrooms. The time of sharing a class set of novels is gone - we now need to supply a novel for each student in order to stay safe while teaching.
This set of two novel titles will allow me to teach high-interest, relevant historical fiction to my 6th graders without forcing them to share books in a way that is unhygienic, and in today's challenging times, unsafe.
Both of these books touch on themes that my students are experiencing in today's world. By reading these stories, students will realize that their own personal struggles are very similar to what other young adults have faced in times past, as well as how their current conditions afford them opportunities unique to our modern world.
