Students will be given the materials needed to make their own calming glitter jar (with the help of their parent). This will both encourage connection with the parent helping them, but also provide a very helpful tool for self-regulation. Additionally, I have requested journals and colored pencils so that students can have a place to record feelings and experiences through words or artistic expression.
Students will be able to utilize these tools throughout their school day to stay calm and regain focus. It is my hope that these tools will provide an outlet and respite for students, and ultimately allow for remote learning to be more manageable and kiddos to stay regulated and emotionally healthy.
