My students can’t even afford food at home let alone books to inspire them. These snacks and books will allow my students to have something to snack on and read. These are simple tools that can lift a student’s spirits. Books inspire us to do better and be better. By adding these particular ones I can continue to diversify my classroom library. Most of my students are people of color and seeing their skin color on book characters can do so much more than I can even imagine. As for the snacks, my students need to know they have a place to go if they didn’t get enough food for the day.
