The materials I am requesting will not only help my current class of 24 students, but many children in years to come. School this year is not what any of us envisioned, and I worry most about the Kindergarten class experiencing their first year of school during Covid-19. We are unable to have the fun and welcoming, comfy classrooms that feel like home. Instead, we will find new ways for our youngest learners to feel comfortable and safe in their second home.
My students will walk through the classroom door and see a welcoming environment where they have a safe, clean space for all of their items. They will have their own personal headphones so they are able to distance learn from home effectively if necessary.
Throughout the year, my students will be engaged by multicultural literature that relates to each of their diverse backgrounds. My students will learn to value what makes them different and feel confident in their own skin. My hope, is that these materials help me to create confident, compassionate students who go on to make a difference in the world.
