My current school Mac does not have a working camera, and our school does not have anything available, at this point in time, to replace it. Our students who are already at a disadvantage due to their learning disabilities, will now face the extra hurdle of working with me virtually without being able to see me.
This new addition to my classroom will enable me to create videos for lessons, communicate through online platforms, and check-in with students one-on-one. The videos I plan to create will be for students and their parents to reference throughout the school year. In my field, it is especially important that my visual learners have access to seeing me and have the opportunity to increase their ability to succeed in not only my class, but in all others.
Since every single one of my students is in special education, they have a lifetime of being disadvantage in comparison to their peer population. It is imperative for their personal and academic growth to be able to see me, so that I can give instructions and alter lessons on a need-to-need basis. These students are already suffering, and in order for me to. gain their trust and help bridge their academic gap, I need to be able to be seen in lessons, and in live virtual office hours.
