My students are coming to kindergarten at an unusual time! They not only are starting kindergarten online but are also in a confusing world. Our country is not only facing life with COVID-19 but also racial injustice and political divides. I'm excited to explore racial issues with my students rather than sweeping them under the rug! Adding these books to my read-aloud shelf will help me facilitate conversation around things they are curious about. I also have a very diverse class and having more books that represent them will help them feel more comfortable when we are meeting virtually.
