I am a first year teacher preparing to teach 7th grade math at an all girls school. And guess what... we're virtual!
This project will serve our young black QUEENS of the world!
I plan to supply each of my girls with a ziplock bag of school supplies that they can use to learn from home. Because most of my girls are from Baltimore, a very underserved community, they are often over looked in regard to most aspects of their lives. This project will allow me a chance to set them up to SUCCEED in a world that is set up for them to have a harder time.
My girls will be creating an interactive journal of their math work. Having notebooks, pens, and pencils of various colors will allow my girls to create a beautiful and informative journal that they will be able to keep and reference in grades to come.
Lastly, my girls will be working a lot on developing their ratio sense in regard to proportional relationships and proportion. Having a white board in my home that is big enough for my girls to see on a virtual platform will allow them to learn tape diagrams as well as other organizers that will develop these skills in a much more efficient manner.
