The materials in this project will enable students to work standing at a vertical whiteboard and in smaller groups. There is research that shows when students stand and use vertical spaces, it is more productive. Students stand at the whiteboard and take turns writing ideas and pieces to the problem. The teacher and other groups can see how thinking is developing by glancing at the boards. They are also movable, which makes presenting ideas and thinking easier. Vertical spaces maximize collaboration, accountability, and feedback from the teacher and peer groups. You can see this in action in my picture above.
