This time during the pandemic has been difficult for everybody but especially for children. They don't fully comprehend the reasoning behind people wearing masks or why they aren't allowed to play with their friends anymore. I want to make school as normal as possible to them by still having fun while learning.
I teach Kindergarten and their learning is done through hands-on practicing. I can't imagine students sitting at their desks all day with a paper and pencil because that is the only thing available in order for them to prevent contamination. I want to provide them with tools & manipulatives to continue learning like before. Because we can no longer share any kind of objects, I want them to have a way to still use technology and use their hands to learn while still staying safe.
I would like to provide them a bin to store all of their notebooks, materials, manipulatives, etc... In addition, they will need earphones to be able to continue using technology. The floor seats are merely a way for them to still be able to "sit on the carpet" but at a 6 foot distance. The magnetic white boards will not only be used for writing, but also to provide them a magnetic board to manipulate letters and numbers. The timer will be used to time students washing their hands so that I can make sure they are washing their hands properly.
I ask you to please allow me the possibility of normalizing school for my students while still being safe so that they can continue to be able to assist school. I appreciate your time.
