This school year will obviously look very different from a teaching standpoint as well as learning. Adhering to the guidelines of reopening my students will, unfortunately, be sitting six feet apart, which will inhibit the socialization skills they need to grow and learn. Not only is the social distancing rule going to be tough but now each student will need his/her own set of materials and electronics.
My hope is that each student will be able to have their own tablet which will allow learning to be interactive and fun. Tablets will help my students with their hand-eye coordination (they will have the ability to utilize tracing activities). Since the tablets are touch screen it will be easier for my students to navigate than using a mouse.
Additionally, a tablet will give my students who are shy a voice and empower them with confidence to answer questions. Giving each student their own tablet will create a safer classroom environment, as well as to better prepare my students for the future! The tablets will be an amazing investment for my classroom because I will be able to continue to utilize them with my future students.
I would also like to keep each tablet charged and safe by locking them up at the end of each school day with the help of a desk charging box.
