As we have transitioned to in person learning I have been so excited to see my students excitement for reading and enthusiasm for checking books out from our classroom library. I have noticed that need to update the books in my classroom library and diversify the characters that my students will read about.
I love the concept of books being windows where students get to learn about someone else's experience and books being mirrors where students get to see their own experience reflected back to them. My hope is to create a classroom library where both of these sentiments are true and my students grow in awareness to the world around them and grow in their self-confidence.
