LEGOS is a fun way to engage students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) activities. I will be using lesson plans that go with the LEGO Education Spike set that help to develop abstract and critical thinking skills needed to solve complex problems. LEGOS serves as the visual, hands-on aid to abstract and critical thinking. One example is students will work in small groups to build a rhino that will teach them to estimate and evaluate distances. According to research, LEGOS helps children develop various skills. In our class, we will be focusing on social, mathematical, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Because of the uncertainty of COVID 19, students have fallen behind in their mandated learning skills. The effects of COVID 19 on the students have and are being detrimental to their learning experiences. Therefore, it is more relevant now than ever before to have classroom resources that will help students obtain deficient 3rd-grade skills while addressing current 4th-grade skills.
