The students in my program come with a variety of academic, behavioral, and sensory needs. Some of them have attention deficit, poor balance/coordination, and sensory processing difficulties which can make learning difficult due to struggles with self-regulation. I'm going to use the practice of yoga to teach self-regulation and focus, along with using the poses to build core strength and endurance to increase stamina throughout the school day. When my students are becoming disregulated, I can refer back to the teachings of yoga to help keep them reregulate so they do not lose significant instructional time due to behavior difficulties.
