My students are diverse in so many ways. Their education should be a reflection of that. They deserve to have access to art materials and books that allow for a more authentic and immersive experience. Unfortunately for most of our students, these "specialty" crayons, markers, and color pencils are more expensive than other colors! It is ridiculous and a huge equity issue. My students want to be able to draw a self-portrait, draw people, draw their families, without having to settle on orange, peach, or brown as the only options.
