My project is to enhance the learning experience for my students through reading them books. I do not want my students to miss out on the joys of Kindergarten because they are learning virtually. They deserve to feel as though they are still in the classroom. If my project is funded I will do everything in my power to ensure they get the same in class feeling through reading them these stories and teaching the lessons they would usually receive sitting on a carpet and listening intently.
Some of the greatest times as a teacher is sitting on the carpet and reading stories to our students. These books will enhance their little minds, teach them morals, teach them values, and add to their academic experience. I will use these books for daily lessons to give my students the same experiences they would receive in the classroom.
This series of books is part of a program called "Rooted in Reading". This program is a reading curriculum for Kindergarten that enhances learning through reading comprehension, grammar, and foundational skills while also teaching morals, manners, values, and empathy. These stories provoke group discussions in our classroom and will help students feel more engaged with their classmates through virtual live lessons.
