The Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award books will enhance our library curriculum and collection.
Each year, the Washington Library Association nominates 20 picture books and develops literacy activities for them. Students around the state from grades k-3 vote in the spring for their favorites. I would read these books aloud to students during our library time, and put them in the collection for curbside pickup this year. In the spring, students can vote on their favorites, and the results will be posted on the school website, and included in the state vote of children. These books can generate enthusiasm for reading. They will help create a fun and warm library environment that emphasizes kindness and a readiness to learn.
