My students will be learning virtually for a while! I support 11 students with special education services so they can be successful in the general education classroom. I am lucky to have a diverse group of students from different countries and backgrounds who bring a wide range of skills and knowledge to our community.
I want to provide my students with the materials they need to learn at home. First of all, headphones with microphones would foster a more focused learning environment. Often my students are sharing a workspace with siblings or learning from a daycare, so the background can get pretty noisy with lots of virtual learners busy with school! Headphones would both allow my students to hear their teachers more clearly and the built in microphones would allow us to hear them more clearly as well. This will make it easier for my students to stay focused and engaged.
Secondly, I want to send my students a set of chapter books to read independently throughout the year. The more they read the more they will build their confidence and improve their reading skills. I have selected chapter books that feature diverse protagonists because I believe it is important my students to see themselves represented in their learning content.
