My second graders are walking into our classroom after having their last school year disrupted from the pandemic. You can only imagine the confusion and feelings of uncertainty that they had to endure.
It is my hope that I can bring a sense of security in our classroom by having books that teach social-emotional skills. By reading books that focus on emotions, and relationship building, my students will be able to apply these skills to their everyday lives.
Furthermore, I want to include culturally relevant books so my students can better understand the world around them. Students will be exposed to learning about equity and fairness.
It is my goal to create a classroom environment where my students respect, grow, and learn together.
