I want to give my students the opportunity to tap into their sensory development inside the classroom by giving them a sensory table and materials. This also will serve as an option to calm down when emotions are running high as it can be a great tool to relax and distract when necessary.
It's proven that sensory play in early childhood (pre-school and kindergarten) supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
By assisting with my project, I will be able to provide my kindergarten students the opportunity to explore and play in a unique way. Because we are in pandemic times, I need materials that can easily be disinfected after a student plays with the materials!
